This antique hand-knotted wool rug, made in the 1950s, is covered edge to edge in dense, curvilinear floral scrollwork rather than the angular geometry of Caucasian weaving, a look closer to a Persian-style Sarouk design. A rich red field carries interlocking vines, palmettes, and blossoms in navy, ivory, and rust, with no single dominant medallion, instead letting the allover floral movement carry the composition. A matching floral border completes the piece. Handmade by skilled Afghan weavers from natural wool, it measures approximately 4'3" x 6'7", a versatile size for a bedroom, entryway, or accent space.
